P10X STATEMENTS

P10X Vision Statement

All students will grow to be able to be as independent as possible and to be able to communicate their wants, needs, and knowledge through a communication system that is appropriate for them.

P10X Mission Statement

It is P10X’s belief that all children can learn to the best of their ability by identifying and removing systemic barriers that impede success with active participation from staff, families, and our community.   We recognize and value the unique cultural experiences and respect the individuality of all students and staff including race, ethnicity, gender, culture, economic status, native language, religion, and disability.   We strive to promote student independence, communication, and self-advocacy by learning through culturally responsive teaching that takes into account everyone’s individual experiences. Through school wide policies and practices, we develop clear expectations and advocate students’ learning by empowering them as agents of change in order to become more empathetic and socially aware global citizens.

P10X Instructional Focus

The primary instructional focus of P10X is enhancing communication skills for all students, but especially for limited language and non-verbal children. The goal of our program is to help students develop the academic, communication and social skills necessary to transition into a less restrictive environment. Communication systems, including the use of Core Vocabulary, are used to support student’s access to the various curriculums and programs used in the school. The impact has been shown to increase speaking, listening and language skills.
